Handling
Handling of biscuits, base cakes or crackers often starts in an organized pattern coming from the oven/cooling conveyor. Product patterns can be either in rows or 'nested'; products can arrive short or long side leading or even 'angled'. Houdijk can engineer product handling solutions for many different applications, including:
- Depositing or Capping systems
- Vertical magazines on sandwiching machines
- Feeding into volumetric loaders
- Vertical magazines on stack feeders, connected to wrapping machines
A typical handling system can feature
Dribble board
- Static dribble board for smooth product acceptance
- Lane pitching bringing products under control between guides for further product handling
Optional features
- Easy changeover for different product sizes, shapes and patterns
- Photocell controlled tracking system to follow product/belt movement on upstream plant
- Emergency product dump
Take-over and metering conveyors
- Positioned after a dribble board
- Featuring product lane side guides
- Take-over conveyor allowing products to slide from the dribble board and pick up belt speed
- Metering conveyor reducing product speeds to minimize spacing between the products
Product guiding
Product lane guiding on conveyor belts is available in different executions:
- Standard
- Easy changeover, featuring repeatable format setting
- Easy cleaning, featuring complete lifting of side guides
Lane expansion or reduction dribble board
- Available in several executions, according to requirements
- Lane reduction/expansion, either static dribble board product guiding or photocell controlled driven product guiding
- Easy changeover for different sizes, shapes and patterns (option)
Product turning
Feeding product to sandwiching machines whereby products in half of the lanes are inverted
Product stacking
Placing product in overlapping position (shingling)
Product can either stand forwards or backwards using:
- penny stacking unit
- rotary stacking unit
Vibratory feeder
- Easy synchronization and speed set-up between the different sections of the complete system
- Controlled back pressure
- Dynamic vibratory speed variation via the loading level sensors of the system
- Amplitude feedback to guarantee a constant speed during the life cycle of the spring package
- Very even distribution of the vibrations over the product tracks of the system
- Easy maintenance as leaf spring packet can be mounted separately, enabling a stress free mounting of the spring leafs
- Quick change tracks for easy changeover for different product dimensions and shapes
- Easy and quick installation and commissioning
Handling system controls
Via one centralized control system featuring:
- PLC control
- HMI
- Recipe settings for different product sizes, shapes and capacities
